ABSTRACT

When surgical excision of a lesion results in a circular defect of the skin, there are numerous techniques that allow primary closing of the defect without the need of performing additional tissue excision or a more complex flap, or even a graft. The present paper presents a clinical case of an S-plasty in the hallux of a patient that is a variant of the simple fusiform of elliptical excision and allows a more favorauble primary closing of circular defects. This type of plasty is not commonly used in the podriatric community and entail a good choice for the closure of this type of defects in curved areas such us the foot and ankle.
